Micralite Toro Baby Stroller

The Micralite Toro is a luxury buggy stroller that’s capable of taking on any bumpy surface and still offer a very comfy, smooth ride. It’s perfect for those who wants a great all-rounder lightweight pushchair suitable for air travel, convenient and stylish enough for city use, and sturdy enough for off-road use!

Micralite Toro: The Pros

The Toro is a luxury pushchair designed to adapt to your child’s changing needs. It’s been designed to function as a 4-in-1 system:

1. a newborn system if used with the carrycot
2. a travel system if used with a car seat (e.g., Maxi Cosi Cabrio car seat)
3. Stroller / Buggy
4. All terrain pushchair, especially if bought with the all-terrain kit

What we are reviewing here is the stroller component only.

The first thing you’ll notice about the Toro is its good looks. It looks unique and trendy, and many parents who own it admitted how it turns heads anywhere and get a lot of compliments from strangers.

The Toro pushes extremely well and although it is lightweight, it feels very stable and sturdy. It’s one of the easiest Baby Pushchairs to steer – so much so that you can even manoeuvre it effortlessly with one hand. The raincover is included in the package too and can be zipped onto the hood.

The stroller is suitable from 6 months until your toddler reaches 40 lbs. (roughly 4 years). The seat is quite roomy, it’s made with waterproof fabric, comes with a removable bumper bar, matching front apron, a 5 point harness, and the matching hood has a sun visor that you can flip in or out from under the hood and offer good coverage.

The handlebars are not height-adjustable in the traditional sense, but the handle grips can be angled to point downwards, at 90 degrees, or to point straight up.

The seat recline is one of the easiest and smoothest I have come across. It has 3 recline positions and allow your baby to lie completely flat. You can even adjust it without disturbing your sleeping baby.

Like the Micralite Fastfold baby stroller, the rear wheels are pneumatic and air-filled, and the front swivel wheels are lockable (The front wheels are wider than the rear wheels). If you want to convert it to a full all-terrain pushchair, you can replace teh front wheels with pneumatic tyres.

Folding and unfolding it is very easy, and is secured in place with a clip when folded. It also stands upright on its own when folded. Its dimensions when folded is 96 x 38 x 41 cm and can fit in the boot of a medium sized car no problem.

Weighing only 8.5 kg, it really is easy to take it in and out of the car, taxis or even up and down stairs.

Micralite Toro: The Cons

Now for the Cons. One thing we noticed right away is that the bumper bar is a bit high for a small baby.

As mentioned earlier, the handle bar angle position can be adjusted, but with an alan key. I think this is rather silly because it just makes it inconvenient, but in the bigger scheme of things it’s no big deal.

In fact I have a few improvements to suggest for the Toro, but they can all be regarded as minor flaws:

• The leg support is not adjustable
• The hood would have been better with a viewing window
• The shopping basket is prone to getting kicked by older kids as their legs grow and therefore have longer reach. It’s also got a capacity of 2 kg which is much less than many buggy strollers, and can be accessed only from the front of the pushchair. This set up makes it rather awkward to access. Now because of the limited storage you might be tempted to hang a bag or shopping bag over the handle bars. The manufacturer discourages this as this will make your pushchair buggy prone to tipping.

Taller people might struggle a bit with this pushchair. If you are taller than 5′8″, you might find the handles a bit low and you could find it easy to end up kicking the back wheels as you walk.

Conclusion

We recommend this baby stroller to parents who needs a pushchair that can take on any surface, is great for public transportation and one that can be opened and closed fast while on the go. If you want a pushchair that “does it all”, is big in style and functionality and yet still practical, portable and compact, then the Micralite Toro is for you. It really is as good as it looks!
